Brass spiral earrings with pink rhodonite stones {Spirit of Earth collection}

Nell'antica cultura celtica, la spirale era il simbolo per l'introspezione. Rappresentava la conoscenza del mondo e del sé, la connessione con le energie cosmiche, il cammino verso il progresso. La sua forma vagamente ipnotica mi ha sempre catturato, e spesso mi ritrovo a scarabocchiare su foglietti e post-it tante piccole spirali. E' stato quindi naturale provare a riprodurle con il filo di ottone...

Tra gli ultimi arrivati nella collezione Spirit of Earth, ci sono questi orecchini con spirali in ottone e pietre dure rosa dalla forma allungata, più precisamente delle rodoniti. Vistosi ma con delicatezza, hanno uno stile etnico e gitano capace di dare carattere all'intero outfit :)
Per crearli ho martellato il filo di ottone dandogli la forma di una spirale, scurito con la fiamma e rifinito con cura. Poi ho assemblato con la rodonite.

In the antique Celtic culture, the spiral is the symbol for introspection. It represents the knowledge of the world and of the self, the connection with the cosmic energies, the path to the progress. I've always loved its hypnotic shape, and often I doodle spirals on sheets of paper. So I wanted to make spirals out of brass wire too...
These brass spiral earrings with pink semiprecious stones (named rhodonite stones) belong to Spirit of Earth collection. They're statement earrings, but with grace: with a gypsy and ethnic style, they will enrich your outfit :)
I made them with the metal smithing technique: I hammered the brass wire in the spiral shape, darkened it with fire and finished it with care. Then I assembled the pieces with the pink rhodonite gemstones.
